About the roundtable

Family offices are increasingly exploring how their investment capital can contribute to positive social and environmental outcomes alongside financial returns. Moving from ambition to implementation, however, raises practical questions: Where are investable opportunities emerging? How should investors assess the impact case alongside the financial case? What evidence is needed before investing? And how can impact be measured and managed without creating disproportionate complexity or reporting burden?

Convened by the Centre for Impact Investing and Practices and PIE Strategy, supported by the Hong Kong Academy for Wealth Legacy, this closed-door session brings together family office principals, investors and practitioners to explore these questions through practical examples and peer exchange during Hong Kong Green Week 2026. With perspectives from Mainland China and across Asia, the discussion will examine how impact considerations can be incorporated into investment decision-making in practice.

Participants will hear directly from investors, explore a real-world impact investment case from China through a practitioner sharing, and exchange perspectives on the opportunities, challenges and practical considerations involved in putting impact investing into practice.

The session will also provide opportunities for relationship-building and informal exchange, with a networking lunch and informal networking with fellow family office principals, investors and practitioners.

What the discussion will cover

  • —Identifying impact opportunities: where investors see opportunities to generate positive social or environmental outcomes alongside financial returns
  • —Market and policy context: how policy priorities, regulation and market developments are shaping impact investment opportunities in Mainland China and the wider region
  • —Translating intent into investment: what investors consider when assessing the financial and impact case, and what is needed to build confidence in allocating capital
